It is so incredibly stupid that they designed it this way, just like the Wrangler. The harness connection is harder to access, especially for people who aren't as flexible anymore. And you have to remove interior trim panels to access them, which means those parts will wear out over time. And then when you reinstall it's harder to make sure all the pins in the harness get lined back up correctly before you clasp it shut, which has been an issue on Wrangler for years. It's just stupid.

They should have taken a note from Ford's Bronco. No interior panels to remove, and no bending over and reaching under the dash or steering wheel. On a Bronco it's right in front of you and it's easy to see what you're doing. C'mon Jeep.....use your brain a little.
