Saw that. Typical junk article by someone that can’t imagine how a rugged off-road EV SUV doesn’t get a gigamile per charge and costs more than 30k. Yawn.
Yeah, nobody seems to understand that simple concept. Jeep doesn't go for range. They go for fun. That's why the brand name is so strong across the land.
Exactly. If I wanted a long range economy car, I wouldn’t be looking at a Jeep of any kind. I want to be able to take any road and completely ignore plowing my driveway all winter just because I can
Auto journalists live in some paradox where they want more EV variety, but they criticize everything that’s different.
it’s a boxy SUV because that’s what Americans generally want. It’s not Hummer sized because the mid-sized SUV is Jeep’s bread and butter and not everyone needs three rows.
It’s not a Model Y because it’s got a better interior, off-road chops, CarPlay/AA, better ride height/stance. There’s a lot to like about the Recon’s attempt to pursue and bring EV to a different target.
if they bring the Grand Wagoneer’s REEV to this as an option, it could be getting 400+ miles and suddenly people won
I think recon could be a real overall winner if they play it right. It is exactly what I want at the Moab level. Heavy off-road bias - but more comfortable than a wrangler. Hopefully less noisy.
But, if they also bring out a true street biased 300-350mi range mall crawler, that will be a hit with part of the market.
And then you have the ICE crowd that just wants to spend $5+/gal for their 3.6L. Whatever floats their boat I guess.
