Ship Day today

According to my dealer, today is the day the Recons are set to ship. I haven’t gotten an update as to when mine will hit the lot yet. Anyone get word?

All the dealers I've contacted, including the highest volume selling dealer in the nation (Mark Dodge), says that there is zero information on this. So if you do actually get a VIN and build date, please report back to us.

Awesome! All the ones that say they’re en route or being built are with the sky 1-touch top, though. I’d much rather have the dual pane pano after only using my sky like 50 times due to AZ heat. Good luck, and I’d love to hear how the steering is. Is it twitchy like a Wrangler or comfy like at Grand Cherokee. I’m fine with either but my wife doesn’t like driving the Wrangler on the highway.

Well, dealer as of now still has no new info. Last we have was an “estimated” ship date of 8/11/26. Talking with another dealer, they have one preorder awaiting final inspection, and one coming to the lot that is marked as “shipped to storage” with no further information.

Info seems to be all over the place on these. Some dealers seem to have more info than others. I’ve talked to quite a few and have also gotten answers like “go into production in Oct” and “check back in a few months, we haven’t heard anything”.

My hopes of getting mine this week are somewhat dashed, but maybe soon.

I think I saw somewhere that all of the year 1 Recons will be 1 touch roofs.

As far as the handling, we shall see. And I tend to agree. The Wrangler is great, but for any extended highway drives, it stays home.

Yes, all Recons for this model year are defaulted to the Sky One Touch power top. And of course, the Moab trim level is the only one available for order. So that's why the MSRP realistically starts closer to $70,000.

There was hope that the second model year would open up lower trim levels and fewer options forced and the MSRP would go down significantly on those, but at this point it's becoming very questionable whether or not Jeep is really going to build these in mass and ship them to dealers. So I'm not holding my breath.

For 2027 there is going to be a slew of new EV entries such as Subaru Trailseeker, Ford Fathom, Kia EV3, and several others that are all practical SUV/pickup designs with AWD, 250+ miles of range, NACS/Tesla charging, and priced under $40k nicely equipped. This is going to make a $70k Jeep EV a tough sell. Yeah, the removable doors and 33" tires and sliding top are super cool...but are they $35,000 cool??

Jeep needs to get their head out of the sand and let us know what's really going on with Recon. I'm getting really tired of these games.

I share this frustration...I just want info. I need something with a max of about 80-100 miles of range. I'm a mall-crawler, not an off-roader. But all our vehicles are higher off the ground, and we don't want a sedan/hatchback. I just like cargo space when the dogs are with me, I am carrying items, an airport run, or a couple sets of golf clubs in the back. Generally I only go about 30 miles daily. In some ways the Recon is over engineered for my needs. But I love my Wrangler 4xe and am ready to go electric.

Another of my frustrations is the misunderstanding about pricing, and Jeep hasn't done any favors by saying the MOAB "starts at" nearly $70k. Basically, Jeep is starting with their most expensive trim, then supposedly an Overland or another trim. The price could creep into the high $50s MSRP. That would actually have it pretty comparable to the higher end R2s. But people look at the wording of the lowest R2 starting at $45k (eventually) and the highest Recon starting at nearly $70k, and they don't realize it's not an apples to apples comparison.

I don’t blame jeep for pushing out the most off-road ready version first. They need the buy in of the regular Jeep crowd, and the best way to do that is to get Recons out there at the wrangler meets, crawling rocks and hitting this trails. That said, the fact that they’ve left everyone in the dark about whatever lies beneath the Moab (sans some minor Overland peeks) is a shame.
I would want the Moab regardless, but it would be nice to have some sort of idea of what other trims and price ranges were coming down the pike, and at least a rough road map of when to expect them.

Totally agreed. It's got very competent specs. I'd order a MOAB for my needs (100 min...accidentally said max before). But they showed off Overlands at auto shows as well. I just don't know how that'll be equipped. I want EV, vented seats, and dual pane pano roof...maybe trailer hitch for when the wife needs to tow horse a short ways instead of out truck. If the Overland can meet that list with potentially more efficient tires, maybe lesser skid plate protection (if there's savings), etc, I'd opt for it. But I drive a Rubi 4xe and we love it. My complaint isn't about pushing the off-road beast first, it's the wording that "starts at" doesn't imply there will be cheaper versions. We all know there will be from their own comments, but the general public isn't as informed as those of us waiting on the vehicle
